This Area's Housing
Firestone is a newer build than most of what we cover out of Longmont. The median home here went up around 2007, which puts most garages in this area well inside the era of factory-insulated steel doors, standard torsion springs on center-mount hardware, and openers with rolling-code safety sensors already built in. That's a different starting point than the 1950s-through-1980s stock we see closer to the city center, where original one-piece doors and side-mount torsion setups are still common. With roughly 5,877 households here, most of what we're dealing with is production-builder garage packages installed during Firestone's growth years, not older refits or add-ons. The doors are younger, but that doesn't mean problem-free - it means a specific, narrower set of failure points tied to how these subdivisions were built out in a short window.
